IICB Camp @ GIMT Guwahati

Visited Guwahati this week on Monday for IICB Camp at Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, one of the first private colleges of Guwahati. received warm welcome from college authorities, thanks everyone for being so much enthusiastic about the event and specially Dr. Saikia for organizing the camp. Students presented papers on IPv6, VoIP, DNS protocols and standards. College heads met me personally and tried to gather information about the project and how students can get more benefit out of it. I have seen eagerness to do, and this enthusiasm reminded me of my college days.

There were questions on security aspects of protocols, for the first time I have seen a group of students proposing some security layer in a protocol standard. The environment of research and exploration needs to be cultivated in these institutions, If given a platform they can do wonders and the emergence of IoT and next generation Internet there are multiple opportunities and scopes for creating new protocols, standards, experimentation and implementation, and if we can start cultivating these ideas from early stage, the days are not far that we can foster an environment of make in India and make for India among young generation.
